On 16 November Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth organises a joint seminar on the role that culture plays in health and well-being, together with Sabine Verheyen, chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education. The seminar will include speakers from the cultural and medical fields, present good practice examples and experiences from the ground – from projects funded by various EU programmes such as Creative Europe, Erasmus + and Horizon 2020 – as well as policy initiatives and reflection processes at various decision-making levels. The seminar will take place from 14.00 to 16.00 and will be webstreamed.
Ahead of this seminar, the European Commission published a brochure with good practice examples of EU funded projects linking culture, health and well-being. They show the power of culture and the arts to improve health and well-being in the European Union.
During the seminar, representatives from #CultureForHealth will unveil the CultureForHealth Report, showcasing the findings of over 300 scientific studies that show art and culture’s contribution to health and wellbeing. Following the Commission's seminar, you can download the report in advance of the big report launch on 24 November.
