Recap of CultureAndHealth Platform launch event

We are excited to announce that the  CultureAndHealth Platform was successfully launched online  on 16 December 2024. With over 200 participants at peak times, the strong turnout confirmed the great interest in this initiative.

The launch was led by Kornelia Kiss, Head of Culture at CultureActionEurope and co-author of the CultureForHealth report. After a first introduction by Lars Ebert, Secretary General at Culture Action Europe, Kornelia set the stage by explaining the origins of the platform within the CultureForHealth Report and outlining its aims and ambitions. You can find the presentation here.

The event was further enriched by showcasing three artists, who shared their inspiring work bridging culture and health:

Katy Geertsen (Arts for Health Austria), a dance artist, presented two impactful projects: Dance for Dementia in an elderly care home and the  school-based dance program Move it!  for forcibly displaced youth in Vienna. The latter supports newly arrived students—many of whom do not yet speak German—by fostering connection and inclusion through movement.

Andrea Kiss, a healthcare clown at Piros Orr and a mental care expert in Hungary, shared her heartfelt work with older people in care homes, where she and her team bring joy and help residents navigate their challenges.

Kim Gaffney, a visual artist from Ireland, introduced the Art of Life project. Through tailored workshops, her work normalises conversations about death, dying, and end-of-life care, creating space for reflection and dialogue.

We are excited for the journey ahead and look forward to the many opportunities this platform will create in the coming years! Stay connected by sharing your project to the CultureForHealth project database, subscribing to our newsletter and following us on LinkedIn.
