Dance Music Therapy for care providers
Several Dance Music Therapy sessions were conducted for care providers who are catering to the needs of "Restoring Smiles through Dance" participants, namely survivors
of sex trafficking. These sessions were designed to give care providers a basic understanding and experience of Dance Music Therapy, provide some tools for self-care and to capacitate them to use tools from DMT as part of trauma-sensitive responses to participants.
Empowering Lives through Dance
The core project of Kolkata Sanved -Empowering Lives through Dance- works with diverse marginalised communities in collaboration with the Government, NGOs and community-based organisations. Dance Movement Therapy sessions are conducted in groups at child care institutions run by both the government and local NGOs. Their model was developed to heal and empower individuals from marginalised communities, including survivors of gender-based violence and at-risk children and youth.
Trauma Recovery
A new series of Trauma Recovery project realized through the ‘Restoring Smiles through Dance’ curriculum was implemented in 5 centres (3 child care institutions in Maharashtra, and 1 child care institution and 1 community setting in West Bengal). This module consists of three thematic areas: Awareness and Sensation, Emotional Balance and Social Integration. It consists of 48 DMT sessions, spread across 1 year.
